The residents of Stapleford would love to see The Tree open again. We have had a ‘wishing tree’ at a couple of events in the village when people from the community have put their suggestions on how they would use The Tree onto post-its and put those ‘leaves’ onto the tree! Here are some of their suggestions, which would see it being used as a real community space for all ages:
Tennis club meetings
Decent wine, wine tasting
Darts teams, that travel around playing at different venues
Pop up kitchen, different types of food.
Meals on wheels, with delivery via cargo bike
Communal BBQ nights
Local produce for sale.
All-age venue during the day – children’s play area?
Display locals’ artwork – and for sale.
Pizza oven for lunch.
Blankets for outside.
Sell stamps .
Make it cosy and friendly.
A neighbourhood gathering spot.
Games – bar billiards, darts, boules, etc
Venue for birthday and anniversary parties
Cricket teams, and afternoon teas
Community notice board
For families to use during the day
Develop a garden at the side, and in front of the B&B rooms
Social meetings with friends
Open forums to share ideas with the community
Daytime coffee mornings for parents and carers with youngsters
Community events and community meetings
Conversation around the bar, getting out of the house to make friends.
Performance evenings, open mic nights.
Good choice of non-alcoholic wines, beers and drinks
Fresh, light interior
and of course, people said they wanted to come and drink good beer!
